Recently, the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center published a profound scientific review the anti-cancer nutrient, and well know ingredient found in the spice turmeric – curcumin. They found curcumin, along with other nutrients, is very effective at telling the difference between a healthy cell and a cancer cell. According to Wellness Resources:
“Curcumin (diferuloylmethane) is one of the most powerful and promising chemopreventive and anticancer agents … How curcumin exerts its powerful anticancer activities has been thoroughly investigated, and several mechanisms of action have been discovered … curcumin exerts its biological activities through epigenetic modulation.’”
Basically, curcumin changes the regulation of DNA to help kill cancer. We now no that the things we put in and on our body have a profound influence on how our genes are expressed (epigenetics). We all have the gene for cancer, it is just whether we turn that gene on or not. Curcumin has shown it has the power to influence cancer promoting genes to stay turned off.
With that being said, that is why I personally take Livamed Turmeric daily and have for years.
Turmeric has a long history of use in ancient cultures. Curcumin is the active ingredient in turmeric and has been used for medicinal purposes for thousands of years. Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis) extract contains ursolic acid, that has been found to support healthy cell reproduction.
The One Supplement Everyone Should Be Taking!
“If I had only a single herb to depend upon for all possible health and dietary needs, I would without much hesitation choose the Indian spice turmeric. There is little that it cannot do in the realm of healing and much that no other herb is able to accomplish. Turmeric has a broad spectrum of actions, mild but certain effects, and is beneficial for long term and daily usage. Though it is a common spice, few people, including herbalists know of its great value and are using it to the extent possible. It is an herb that one should get to know and live with.”
Dr. David Frawley, Director of the American Institute for Vedic Studies
“I discovered the wonders of Turmeric while recovering from back surgery. The ability of this incredible herb to reduce the inflammation and get me on the fast track to healing was amazing. I now take this supplement daily and will do so for the remainder of my life!”

Recent Research
It is only in recent years that Western scientists have increasingly recognized the medicinal properties of Turmeric. According to a 2005 article in the Wall Street Journal entitled Common Indian Spice Stirs Hope, research activity into curcumin, the active ingredient in turmeric is now a high priority. According to the US National Library of Medicine hundred and fifty-six papers about curcumin were published in the past year.

The following categories are based on the fact that turmeric has actions ranging from building, cleaning and moving the blood; to supporting digestion at all levels from the stomach, to the liver and the colon; to nurturing enduring joint health as well as having several potent mechanisms for boosting immuno-competence.
